Nicole Alger is a graduate of Duke University and the Florence Academy of Art.
Alger’s portrait, 'Terra', was a finalist in the ARC Int'l Salon, Fully from Life category, 2019. Her figurative work, 'Ostara' juried in ‘Go Wild!’, curated by Conor Walton, and showed at Gormleys Fine Art in Dublin then Belfast, Ireland. Her figurative work, ‘After Hours’ was juried into the 3rd Annual National show at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, curated by David Hummer and Didi Menendez of PoetsArtists collective. Alger’s still life, ’Pickled Lemons’ was included in the 29th Juried Annual Small Works show at Abend Gallery in Denver, both in the fall of 2019.
Alger’s works exude a humble hyperkinesis, extracting energy out of her still subjects — whether it’s with her choice of colors, decisions of shading, and the near, to us, signature motions and curves of her strokes, throughout all of the artistic implements of her talented employ. Her paintings and drawings also resonate with a quiet joy, that remains with the viewer long after viewing her pieces.
Alger also paints commissions and portraits pro bono of adoptive children and healthcare workers on the frontlines of Covid, for the charity, Painting for Good Causes. She lives in New York City.
